Designing programs / projects

Whether it is a research or a development intervention, a well designed project / program is the key to achieve goals and objectives, and ensure success of interventions and organizations.

Development Strategies team has extensive professional expertise in designing research and development projects / programs of medium to large scale according to the needs and available resources.

Situational analysis

Documentation of exact prevailing situation is the most important base to design and develop interventions. This assessment and analysis certainly involves application of both the qualitative and quantitative methods using carefully developed tools through adequate professional staff.

Development Strategies team has extensive professional expertise in conducting qualitative and quantitative researches, designing relevant tools, training field teams, monitoring the process, analyzing data and documentation of the needs.

Developing project proposals and grant applications

A grant application (project proposal or PC-1 in public sector) which concomitantly meets the requirements of donor agency as well as the implementing organization guarantees a win-win situation for both the parties.

We have professional expertise in writing project proposals for private and public sector organizations. The successful proposals written by our team members include: Proposal for Integrated PHC program for Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; PC-1 for Punjab government in Pakistan (Integrated IRMNCH program), etc.

Planning, implementation and management

A well-planned and thought out intervention and a well-developed implementation plan and management structure is considered central to the success in achieving goals and objectives of any intervention. A comprehensive plan of implementation is three-dimensional and has set of activities (with time, place for each and responsibility) for each objective leading to its efficient and efficacious achievement. The success of the management depends upon well-defined roles and responsibilities at each level of implementation.

Development Strategies has expertise in developing detailed implementation plans and setting up corresponding management structures. Our team members have successfully developed, planned, implemented and managed provincial to national level projects and program

Monitoring and supervisory systems

Success in implementation largely depends upon timely identification of issues and adequately addressing them. Only a well-designed and well placed monitoring system is capable of detecting day to day issues arising during the implementation process and taking timely corrective actions.

Our experts are well conversant with importance of Monitoring and supervision as they have developed monitoring and supervisory structures for provincial to national level programs. We have extensive relevant experience and skills-set to put in place monitoring and supervisory systems.

Management information system & database management

A well-designed, relevant and functional management information system enables the management to take appropriate decisions. While the adequate monitoring and supervision ensures the correctness of information, the MIS manages its flow and helps managers at different levels to interpret the information.

Databases which act as robust business tools for informing implementation and decision making processes are a modern day essential component for programs and organizations. These serve as conduits for regulating monitoring and refining of strategies and activities.

Development Strategy professionals are well conversant with its importance and have extensive relevant experience and skills-set to put in place MIS for any project / program. Our associates have developed MIS and District and Provincial MIS Dashboards

System's analysis, strengthening and restructuring

Any system, which is established, is bound to have deliverables to achieve its objectives. When the system's outcomes are compromised, it needs a thorough analysis of its functioning to figure out operational status and to determine the factors responsible for compromised outcomes. This analytic approach determines the factors and creates demand for either system's strengthening or restructuring or a mix of both.

This requires skill set which the Development Strategy team has acquired over the years.

Evaluation

The evaluation of any intervention / project / program is primarily intended to extract values which the interventions have generated and added to its target beneficiaries.

It is the role and responsibility of the evaluator to determine the extent of value added by the interventions and advising the management on further improvements.

Be it a midterm evaluation or an end of the project, Development Strategies team of experts is capable of meeting all the requirements for the conduct of a successful evaluation from its designing through conducting to concluding stages.

Survey

Besides development of survey tools to collect relevant information, the survey planning demands application of pertinent sampling technique, calculation of an accurate and representative sample size, and to correctly infer the findings to the population, while ensuring adequate power of the survey study. The data collection involves ensuring trained numerators supported by an adequate quality assurance system.

Development Strategies meets all the requirements for conducting a successful survey from designing survey, development of data collection tool, training surveyors, validation of collected information, computerization of data, its cleaning, analysis, interpretation and reporting.

However, there may occur a mismatch between inputs (resources) and outcomes (planned objectives).
